The plight of our Brothers in Detroit is pretty well known. They have gear that is well past being safe or functional, firehouses that had to be heated by the stove, and going so far as to pay for items to stock their stations (like toilet paper). The Highland Park FD is located inside the city of Highland Park and is completely surrounded by the city of Detroit. These firefighters lived in a warehouse for EIGHT years due to their old station being condemned. They have recently been able to secure a grant that helped build them a new station, but they still are not out of the metaphorical woods. Please see if there is anyway you, or your FD or organization could help out.
